LS-DYNA Revolute Joint (Hinged Joint)
Hello,
Today we are going to discuss about Mechanical joints with the help of Finite Element Analysis.
There are 4 types of mechanical joints,
1. Revolute Joint
2. Cylindrical Joint
3 Universal Joint
4.Spherical Joint
Revolute Joint
A revolute joint (also called pin joint or hinge joint) is a one-degree-of-freedom kinematic pair used in mechanisms. Revolute joints provide single-axis rotation function used in many places such as door hinges, folding mechanisms, and other uni-axial rotation devices.
In automobile there are various locations revolure joint used. Some subsystem are,
1. Seating System
2. Stearing column
3. Wheel Assembly etc.
Simulation of Revolute joint in LS-Dyna need predecessor like Hypermesh.
The simulation of Revolute Joint is as shown.The energy graph given Below.
The loading condition as,
1. Constrain hinged one bar,
2. Model under Gravity
3. Revolute Joint definition is used for LS Dyna
4. Shell as well as Solid element modelling
5. Single surface contact
